Natural Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture and Natural Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can not only help restore and maintain a person’s overall health, but also help promote the flow of energy at the skin as well as below the surface of the skin, and help improve your physical appearance giving you a glow that radiates from deep within. For centuries, many Chinese emperors and noble women have utilized acupuncture rejuvenation treatments to improve their appearance while addressing any underlying health issues.

Qi and blood flow through the meridians in our body to nourish, support, and energize our cells, tissues, and organs. When this vital energy in the body fails to flow freely to the skin, whether due to weakness (deficiency) or blockage (stagnation), wrinkles and signs of aging can occur and progress rapidly. As we age, it becomes more difficult to bring the qi and blood upwards resulting in fatigue, inadequate muscle and skin tone, discoloration, age spots, wrinkles, sags, and puffiness. Energetic imbalances and the overall health of your internal organs also determine the areas impacted and the degree to which these signs appear. Acupuncture facial rejuvenation treatments help to stimulate and strengthen the flow of qi and blood to improve skin and muscle tone, enhance dermal contractions, and improve the radiance and elasticity of the skin.

A typical facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment at The Art of Acupuncture Wellness Center consists of a traditional whole body treatment to nourish your skin and improve any underlying imbalances that are contributing to rapid aging.  This is followed by a facial treatment where 15-30 extremely fine acupuncture needles are inserted on the face, neck, and scalp to enhance circulation in these areas, improve the flow of collagen, and increase the supply of essential fluids to these areas. Facial and scalp massage and stretching are often combined within the acupuncture treatment to improve the treatment effect. Depending on the individual needs of the patient, customized acupressure, Chinese herbal remedies, dietary recommendations, and exercises are often recommended to help empower you and achieve optimal results.

As with the treatment for many other conditions, each person may require more or less facial acupuncture sessions depending on their age, health condition, diet, and lifestyle.  A course of 10 treatments is standard, with periodic maintenance visits as needed typically every 3 or 6 months. Facial acupuncture treatments require more time than a typical acupuncture session and are therefore priced differently than a standard acupuncture treatment. For smokers or people who engage in activities that may cause more damage to the skin (such as frequent tanning or sun exposure), a longer commitment is needed to achieve optimal results.
