Acupuncture

needles-in-tray.jpg Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine, disposable, sterile needles at specific points on the body. This process stimulates movement of energy within the body, allowing healing to take place. People experience acupuncture differently, but in most cases the needle insertion is painless and many patients soon discover that the experience is quite pleasurable. Clinical studies cannot fully explain how acupuncture works within the framework of western biomedicine, but it is believed that acupuncture helps to regulate the nervous system and affects brain chemistry through the release of neurotransmitters and neurohormones.

At The Art of Acupuncture Wellness Center, we specialize in a type of acupuncture known as Japanese Meridian Therapy. This is a highly effective, gentle style of acupuncture used to balance body, mind, and spirit to promote health and wellness. The emphasis of this style of treatment is on using the meridians, or the body’s energetic pathways, to diagnose and treat disease. Each treatment is individually tailored to meet the patient’s present condition and needs for optimum results.
